Discussion Background The art teacher is called an artist/teacher. This is a well-known term among art professionals and its origins would seem to derive from the art studio where the student artists used to study. The term comprises two elements: the first is associated with the traditional master1 who taught a long course of studies in his studio (Bachar&Glaubman, 2006) and who promoted excellence, the goal being to enable his students to be acknowledged as artists (Bachar, 2004) and to participate in the artistic discourse: the second element relates to the art teacher, who works among a community of teachers in a school and who is an educational figure, obliged to comply with the requirements of the educational system.
