CASE DESCRIPTION The primary subject matter of this case concerns a capital budgeting decision for a small business. The case is couched in a family farm operation, but the dilemma could easily relate to any small business. It involves a decision to invest in a major piece of equipment--a decision that each and every owner or manager of a small business is likely to face. The case involves management, economic and accounting issues. It has a difficulty level of three, appropriate for junior level courses. The case is designed to be taught in one class hour and is expected to require two hours of outside preparation by students.
